02 / OUR MISSION
Why StrangerSyncs?
Canadians are living with dementia right now!

The problem
Nearly 772,000 Canadians are currently living with dementia, a number expected to surge to almost one million by 2030 (CLEAR Alzheimers).
The loss of memory creates a ripple effect that heavily burdens patients, their families, and healthcare providers.
In the early stages of memory loss, failing to recall a face or a shared moment can trigger intense anxiety, embarrassment, and social withdrawal, forcing them to rely constantly on caregivers to fill in memory gaps.
Our project focuses on one simple question:
what if technology could provide a small second memory?

Computer Vision & Machine LearningUtilized OpenCV and Deepface to implement the needs of the prototype. OpenCV detects the face object, and Deepface uses machine learning to recognize it.
